Sweet And Scrumptious Apple Porridge
This is another twist on one of our favourite breakfasts. There are lots of ways you can liven up a bowl of porridge as it’s one of the most versatile dishes. We’re spoilt for choice with healthy, nutritious options.
The winter is fast approaching here in the northern hemisphere so porridge is becoming even more appealing than usual. It’s such a simple dish to make, whether you make it first thing in the morning or leave it in the slow cooker over night, you’ll savour every bite.
For this particular recipe I’ve made it in the slow cooker as I personally find it’s easier to prepare the night before so I have more time in the mornings, and I prefer the taste as the milk has the opportunity to soak and absorb which I find adds to the flavour. If you don’t have a slow cooker, and want to try it for yourself, you can simply soak your oats in milk overnight in the fridge then cook in the morning and you’ll still achieve the same level of creaminess.
When the winter weather arrives this usually results in eating fewer cold foods, such as fruit, and more warm comfort food. This can reduce the amount of nutrients we consume, so combining porridge with fruits is a fantastic way to get your daily nutrition.
