Frankenstein Kiwis
Halloween is just around the corner and we have another spooktastic Halloween themed food art creation that your little monsters are sure to love. It’s so simple to create and makes a really impressive appetiser for a Halloween party, but probably best to take the cinnamon stick out first 🙂
It’s a fantastic way to encourage the kids to get good levels of nutrition ensuring a healthy future for them, and there’s not much that’s more important than health.
If you need any other Halloween Food ideas, try some of our other spooky food art: avocado skulls and mushroom ghosts, spooky pineapple, halloween stuffed peppers and halloween goblin eyes.
What you’ll need:
Kiwis
Raisins
Cinnamon sticks
Cocktail sticks
Method:
1. Slice the bottoms from the kiwis to ensure they stand up.
2. Carefully peel the skin from the kiwis, leaving the top section for the hair. Peel this in a zig-zag pattern.
3. Place 2 raisins on the kiwi under the hair line for the eyes. Secure these with cocktail sticks.
4. Slice a small cut out section under the eyes for the mouth.
5. Chop the cinnamon sticks into smaller pieces for the mouth and to put through the head. Insert a small stick into the cut out section created for the mouth.
6. Make small holes in the sides of the kiwi and insert the other chopped cinnamon sticks in here.
If you create this food art then do send it through to us as we’d love to see it!
Nutrition benefits to tell the kids:
Kiwis – have lots of vitamin C in them which makes your body’s defensive shield (immune system) stronger! Vitamin C also makes you happy too!
Kiwis, Cinnamon and Raisins – have a good amount of fibre in them which helps to keep your tummy healthy!
Cinnamon – has iron in it which helps oxygen go around your body. We need oxygen to breathe and this gives us the energy to be able to work and have fun everyday.
Cinnamon – has loads of calcium which is important for growing strong teeth and bones!
Raisins – are full of potassium which then keeps your bones and muscles strong!
